DEMONSTRATION EVENTS
THE SOUND OF FILMAn opportunity to think about and discuss variations of how sound can be used in contemporary filmmaking. Sound does not have one role in filmmaking, but many. Film is not primarily a visual medium, it is audiovisual, and to only engage with the visual aspect is, as George Lucas said, to miss “half the picture”. This lesson will involve group participation, critical thinking, audioviewing samples from films, introducing some sound-specific film vocabulary, a limited history of sound design, and most importantly, practice in different types of listening.
